SUCCESS: nordictrackcoupons.com

Well, I'm back again -- busy weekend! This morning I tried the coupons on nordictrackcoupons.com (which I got to from the other website I found last week, proform-coupons.com), and, just like the ones on proform-coupons.com, these all work. They are definitely made by the same people that did the ProForm Coupons site -- it pretty much looks the same, and the coupons all have pretty much the same format.

That's of little importance to me, however. What matters to me -- and hopefully what matters to you -- is that they actually work, just like coupons are supposed to. They're not just some advertisement that claims to be a coupon, but they actually give you a discount. I've also proven their claims that the coupons actually do give you a discount OFF the sale price.

So here you go, another site to add to the 'Treadmill Coupons That Work' page. If you know of any other treadmill coupon sites that you would like me to add to that page, please tell me about it in your comments.

PROFORM-COUPONS.COM - All coupons work!

Sorry, I've been too busy to keep up here this week. I did verify that all the coupons on http://www.proform-coupons.com actually do work. Amazing. My next step will be to verify all the other sites that it looks like are sister sites to that one. It's beginning to look like they just about have the whole ICON brand cornered. I'll keep you updated on my findings.

Eureka! It WORKS! www.proform-coupons.com! Success!

See what a little persistence can do??? I finally found a coupon that works! And not just one, but a whole grip of them! I found them at www.proform-coupons.com

The first coupon on that page says "Click here to get 5% off any ProForm treadmill or elliptical!". So I clicked it and was taken to the front page at Proform.com. From there I added a random elliptical to the shopping cart, and right there in the shopping cart I see... well, see for yourself:
Screenshot of shopping cart at ProForm.com after using coupon from www.proform-coupons.com

Now you see it with your own eyes, my friends. The coupons at www.proform-coupons.com actually work! Tell your friends, tell your mamma, tell your obese little weiner dog. Now I gotta test them all to make sure they all work -- but I think I'm going to save that for tomorrow. There's a lot of them!

To celebrate my first victory, I created a page for Treadmill Coupons That Work, where I will list every site at which I find working treadmill coupons. That way, my beloved legions of followers (who are only yet in my dreams) won't have to sift through pages on end of my boring chronicles to find the nuggets.

Ahhh. As the great chief Crazy Horse once said, "Today is a good day to die."

FAIL: wantacode.com

I deviated from my plan slightly, because some links at the bottom of deals.yahoo.com caught my eye. The first one was http://wantacode.com/proform. I expected to see the same old junk, but to my surprise they actually had some codes I haven't seen yet. So, with some degree of what I think was anticipation, I gave them a try.

The first one is a promo code: 'cabin5%' which is supposed to give me a 5% discount and free shipping. After placing the ProForm 790T in the cart, I entered the code and clicked "Apply Code". I was then kindly told that the code I had entered was invalid. FAIL! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Next was the promo code:  'PFDSC10', which is supposed to give me $50 off an order of $799 or more. Let's see what happens...

OK, I added the ProForm 1050 E Elliptical to my cart (priced at exactly $799) and entered the promo code. And what to my wondering eyes did appear? You guessed it -- FAIL! "The promotion code you have entered is invalid. Please verify the code and try again." Been there, tried that, doesn't work.

The other two promos are the same as everyone else... just redirects that don't do anything I couldn't have done myself by going directly to proform.com. Sigh. One more for tonight, then I'm hitting the hay.

FAIL: deals.yahoo.com

I was about to call it a night, but figured "what the heck, why not do a couple more." I need to pick up the pace if I'm ever going to get through the first page of google results.

So next on the list tonight was deals.yahoo.com. I really expected some good to come out of yahoo. After all, they're Yahoo!. I've just about decided bigger isn't always better when it comes to coupons, though.

Yahoo has two "coupons" that must be older than dirt, because the models don't even exist at proform.com. Here's the url if you want to piss away another 5 minutes of your life.

FAIL: CouponCabin.com Proform Coupons

If I were a quitter, I'd a' quit already. I gotta hand it to couponcabin.com. Their site is professional and easy on the eyes. Unfortunately, although they claim they verify each and every coupon or promo they offer, they obviously skipped the ProForm coupons.

More and more, it's looking like everybody is barfing up the same old crap for coupons. These aren't real coupons at all -- they're just links to sale pages (if even that). What do I need all these sites redirecting me to ProForm's sales for when I can just go there myself and save myself the hassle of looking for a coupon and being disappointed?

I promised I would keep going until I found a real deal on a treadmill, and I will keep my word. But I gotta tell you, I'm yawning here -- and not just because it's late. I sure hope I find some working coupons soon.

FAIL: A2ZDeals.com - No working ProForm Coupons here.

Yet another waste of my time today at a2zdeals.com. These guys are a total joke. Their site has a smidgen of cutesy design flair, but their ProForm treadmill coupons are worthless. What's most annoying is that after clicking on the coupon link, you're taken to a cute little picture of a penguin looking up at a coupon that says "ProForm: $1375 Off Proform Treadmill Deal". A tad cryptic, don't ya think? What's worse is, upon clicking the link, you're taken to the ProForm home page with no mention of the $1375 Off Proform deal. So what, I'm just supposed to surf around until I find it? No thanks. Because I'm determined to find a real coupon -- if such a thing exists -- I looked and looked. I tried adding treadmills to the cart. Nothing. No deal. No coupon. So much for A2Zdeals.com. (BTW, none of their coupons worked. Try 'em for yourself if you don't believe me)

FAIL: retailmenot.com ProForm Coupons

Back from the weekend, nose to the grind. Today's epic fail is retailmenot.com (http://www.retailmenot.com/view/proform.com). I've seen this website in the top search rankings on google a lot, and I think it's a shame that these big websites get so much google real estate when so many of their coupons don't even work. I do have to give them some credit though, because at least they have a rating system that allows you to report back on whether or not the coupon code worked.

In this case, they have 9 coupon codes. All but one of them are 11+ months old, and have a very low reported success rate. The only recently added promo code is 'proform5', which is exactly the same one I tested last week. Just to be sure, though, I tried it again. No go. Don't waste your time with 'proform5', folks. It just doesn't work!

ProForm Coupons on ultimatecoupons.com -- FAIL

Sorry  folks, I'm a little behind schedule already. Just so you're clear, this is how I'm going to proceed:

As I said before, I'm going to go down through the results list one by one in an organized fashion. I will try every link on each site and report back on whether or not they worked. If they worked, I will post the link here. If not, I will give you the URL to the site, but not a real link. Reason? Because linking to another site is a great way for that site to march up the ranks in the search engines -- and why would I want to help out the sites who wasted my time? On the other hand, if the coupons or discount codes actually DO work, I do want to help those sites get closer to the top. So here goes...

I searched Google for ProForm Coupons today, and here are my results from the first site in the results:

www.ultimatecoupons.com/coupons/proform_coupons.htm - FAIL

We're off to a good start already. This site advertises two ProForm Coupons. The first promises free shipping. Well, if you've been shopping online for a treadmill or elliptical, you already know that everyone offers free shipping on treadmills and ellipticals. Duh. Who would buy one online if they had to pay $300 in shipping? In my opinion, that's not a coupon or a deal

The second one gives a coupon code, 'proform5' which is supposed to be good for 5% off anything sitewide. To test, I added a treadmill to the cart and entered the promo code in the cart at checkout. Clicking the "Apply Code" button resulted in absolutely nothing. Just to make sure, I went to the final phase of checkout (stopping just short of paying) and watched for any change to take place in the price. Zip, nada, nothing. Still the same price as it was before I applied the promo code.

What blows my mind is that ultimatecoupons.com claims that these proform coupons are verified! Hah! The promo code is supposed to be valid until 11/13/2010. Nice try people.

My Methodology for finding treadmill coupons that work

Just a quick post today, not much time. This is the methodology I've decided to employ in order to find treadmill coupons that work. For the sake of simplicity, I'm just going to use google, since that's the most common search engine. So I'm going to decide on a search phrase, for example, "ProForm Treadmill Coupons", and then I'm just going to go down the results list one by one and try every treadmill coupon they offer and post the results.

I probably sound like I'm biased towards ProForm Treadmills... or even Treadmills in particular. I'm really not.  Honestly, I haven't decided whether to go with a treadmill or an elliptical. Nor am I stuck on the ProForm brand. That's just the brand I'm starting with.

I work a full time job and a part time job, just like most of middle America, so I can't just sit here and do this all day. My plan is to spend 20 minutes a day and do one website per day. Hopefully, google will pick up my blog before too long, as it doesn't do anyone any good if no one knows it exists!

Introduction and Mission Statement

Hey there! If you've been searching endlessly across the vast expanse of the world wide web looking for treadmill coupons or elliptical coupons that actually work, you're going to want to follow my blog.

First, a little about me. I'm just a regular joe like most everyone out there: blue-collar middle-class American, struggling to make ends meet in this tough economy. I also happen to have taken a keen interest in my growing love handles -- spurred in my protuberance, perhaps, by my increasingly stress-induced snacking habit.  One day, I decided I better get off my fat butt and do something about it. So, after checking out the local gym membership prices and picking my jaw up off the floor, I decided I'd rather invest in a piece of equipment that will pay for itself rather than just being a money sucker.

So, being the half-broke, half-baked man that I am, I figured I'd do my research online and find the best deal on a treadmill or elliptical and be done with it. Yeah right.

If you're still reading, you probably thought the same thing I did: "It should be easier than this to find a good deal online!" I don't know if it's just the treadmill industry, or if this is a major problem altogether. I don't do a TON of online shopping, so I don't know. But I tell you, I tried every Proform treadmill coupon and elliptical coupon I could find on the first two pages of google and none of them worked!

That's the point at which I gave up. After a day-long hiatus to diffuse my irritation, my head was a bit more clear and I thought, "There's GOT to be some coupons or discount codes out there that work. I wonder if there are other people as frustrated as I am?" Because I don't know about you, but I want -- no, need, every discount I can find. Who really wants to pay retail? Especially on a large purchase like a treadmill.

That's the impetus behind this blog. I've been wanting to start a blog for a long time anyway, and now I have something to motivate me. This is better than watching Seinfeld and Simpsons re-runs anyway... I think.

So stay tuned, my friends. Over the next few weeks I'm going to gather up my notes, re-trace my steps, and chronicle my journey here just for you. As I mentioned before, I started (and finished) looking for ProForm coupons or discount codes, because that's the brand I was initially interested in (honestly, it's the only one I had heard about at that time). But what appeal would this blog have if I didn't research other brands as well? No sense being narrow minded.

I'll be reporting not only on the coupon / promo / discount codes that work, but also exposing those that don't so you won't have to waste your weekend clicking on them like I did. So stay tuned!
